Flag Day marks the anniversary of Sheikh Khalifa’s presidency, with flag-raising ceremonies across the UAE.

On November 3, the United Arab Emirates will celebrate Flag Day, a significant occasion that symbolizes national unity and pride. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has urged citizens, residents, government institutions, schools, universities, and households to raise the national flag on this day. The event commemorates the accession of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as UAE President in 2004.

UAE Flag Day, first celebrated in 2013, is not a public holiday but is marked by flag-raising ceremonies and activities in schools, offices, and government institutions. The UAE national flag, first raised on December 2, 1971, was designed by Abdullah Al Maeena and features four colors: red, green, white, and black, each with its own symbolism.

The UAE Cabinet has issued guidelines for displaying and caring for the national flag. These include keeping the flag clean and ironed, replacing damaged flags, inspecting the flag before raising, and checking it after bad weather. It is a criminal offense to insult or deliberately damage the flag under Article 3 of Federal Decree Law No. 13 of 2019.
