Decision aligns with US Federal Reserve’s unchanged rate amid inflation concerns
The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) announced on 28 October 2026 that it will keep the Base Rate for the Overnight Deposit Facility (ODF) unchanged at 3.9%. This decision follows the US Federal Reserve’s move to maintain its interest rates despite ongoing inflation and rising energy prices in the United States.
In a statement, the CBUAE also confirmed that the interest rate for borrowing short-term liquidity from the central bank will remain at 50 basis points above the Base Rate for all standing credit facilities. This policy reflects the UAE’s monetary stance, which is closely linked to the US Federal Reserve’s Interest on Reserve Balances (IORB).
The Base Rate serves as an indicator of the general direction of monetary policy in the UAE and establishes a floor for overnight money market interest rates. The CBUAE’s decision underscores its commitment to maintaining financial stability in the region.
