Changes will affect five major roads with adjusted speed limits and radar settings
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that new speed limits will be implemented on five major roads starting November 1. The adjustments will see speed limits increased on three roads and decreased on two, with traffic cameras reprogrammed to reflect these changes.
The roads affected include Al Asayel Street, where the speed limit will rise from 60km/h to 80km/h, and Al Mustaqbal Street, which will see an increase from 60km/h to 70km/h. Latifa bint Hamdan Street will also have its speed limit raised to 70km/h from 60km/h. Conversely, Al Rebat Street will have its limit reduced from 100km/h to 90km/h, and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street will decrease from 80km/h to 70km/h.
Motorists should be aware of the radar grace limit, which typically allows for a 20km/h buffer over the posted speed limit before a speeding violation is recorded. However, this should not be seen as permission to exceed the posted limits.
Speeding fines in Dubai range from Dh300 for exceeding the limit by up to 20km/h, to Dh3,000 for exceeding by more than 80km/h, along with black points and vehicle impoundment for more severe violations.
