LOVOT, a Japanese-developed social robot, is making waves at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026. Designed to provide companionship and encourage human interaction, LOVOT is particularly aimed at supporting the elderly and those needing emotional support. This innovative technology was showcased by Public Intelligence, a Danish company exploring its use in healthcare and social care facilities.
The robot, developed by GROOVE X, uses AI, cameras, and sensors to interact with people. Weighing approximately 4kg, it is equipped with over 50 touch sensors, microphones, a thermal camera, and a 360-degree camera to detect people and respond to touch.
LOVOT’s ability to develop unique behavioral patterns allows it to form individual personalities over time. This feature aims to enhance emotional connections rather than perform traditional robotic tasks.
Peter Julius, CEO of Public Intelligence, highlighted the potential for introducing this technology to the UAE market. The robot’s presence at the summit underscores the growing interest in healthcare technology within the region.
