Dr Mustafa Saasa marked the 25th death anniversary of his father, Taher Saasa, with the premiere of a short documentary titled ‘Saasa, the Life of the Legend’ in Dubai. The event, held on October 28, 2026, was attended by Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, and Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, the Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
The documentary traces Taher Saasa’s journey from his arrival in the UAE in 1958, highlighting the challenges he faced and the privileges granted by Dubai’s leadership at the time, such as starting a business without a local sponsor. Mustafa Saasa emphasized the importance of staying faithful to the place where one lives, a principle his father upheld.
Al Marri praised Taher Saasa’s contributions to trade and diplomacy, noting his understanding of these areas even before the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) existed. He urged newcomers to watch the film before starting a business in the emirates.
Dr. Reddy highlighted a lesson from Mustafa’s late mother about gratitude and humility, values that Indian families carry across the seas. He emphasized the strong partnership between India and the UAE, with the Indian community being one of the most trusted and respected in the UAE.
The film illustrates the success that occurs ‘when a welcoming nation meets an enterprising people,’ according to Reddy, who argued that success should be measured in relationships, integrity, and service to society.
